Preparation Instructions - How should I prepare?

Preparing for Your Blood Draw

Proper preparation for blood tests is crucial to ensure accurate results and to avoid the need for repeat testing. Follow these guidelines to prepare:

  • Fasting:
Fast for at least 12 hours before your blood draw. This means no food or beverages other than water. Morning appointments are best, as 12 hours allow your body to process the last meal and return to its baseline state.
  • No Training or Exercise:
Avoid physical activity for at least 24 hours, ideally 48 hours, before your blood draw. Exercise can impact certain biomarkers.
  • Sleep:
Ensure at least 8 hours of solid sleep the night before. Poor sleep can affect stress markers and skew your results.
  • No Caffeine or Other Beverages:
Avoid coffee, tea, juice, or other drinks. Drink one or two glasses of water in the morning and head straight to the clinic.
  • Avoid Biotin Supplements:
Do not take any supplements containing biotin (commonly found in hair, skin, and nail products) for at least 5 days before your blood draw, as biotin can interfere with certain test results.
  • Illness or Medications:
If you have recently had an infection or have taken anti-inflammatory medications or antibiotics, wait at least two weeks after finishing your treatment before having your blood drawn.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure the most accurate results and avoid unnecessary complications.
